campus sustainability

  • Ensure that GUFF, GREEN, and all other sustainability-based advocacy organizations receive our administration’s material and institutional support in all future policy initiatives.

  • Push Georgetown University’s Provost and Deans’ Offices for the full implementation of the ENST major and sustainable business fellowship. GUSA’s current Sustainability Committee has formed a working group with the existing minor, and their recommendations must be incorporated into any administrative action.

  • Negotiate with Aramark to ensure that its food sources for Georgetown University operations are organically, sustainably, and ethically sourced. This project must include an exploration of local and minority-owned operations in the DMV area, as well as transitory periods between sources.

  • Review and certify that any food sources utilized by the administration, whether directly or through third-party contracts, have substantial workers’ protections for their staff and rank-and-file employees.

  • Collaborate with the Office of Transportation Management and other stakeholders to implement the Blue Campus goal of progressively transitioning the entire Georgetown University Transportation Services (GUTS) to fully-electric buses.

  • Develop a permanent What's-A-Hoya module that concentrates on sustainability and allows GREEN to maintain control over its programming direction.

  • Create a Sustainability Advisory Board to evaluate Georgetown merchandise and branded goods in terms of their sustainability (food waste, plastic usage, and more) and to recommend alternative options.

  • Collaborate with the Senate and local/campus stakeholders to push Georgetown’s administration to join the D.C. Metro’s U-Pass program, making travel more accessible and reducing total carbon emissions.
