VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES
(FIRST-GEN, LOW-INCOME, HOUSING INSECURE, HIGH-NEED)
-
Expand Georgetown’s Student Health Insurance Policy to cover basic medicinal needs, mental health treatment and more.

-
Allow the Student Health Center to provide birth control for everyone, regardless of motive or health coverage status.

-
Maintain Georgetown’s commitment to need-blind admissions at all costs.

-
Push the Office of Student Financial Services to eliminate scholarship displacement, inequitable tuition reduction, and move away from loans in award packages.

-
Work with Residential Living to allow vulnerable student populations to remain on campus over extended breaks if they are unable to return home. This program must include access to dining options or grants to cover the expense of these stays.

-
The selection and application process for this program must be streamlined, transparent, and inclusive.

-
Push the University to partner with Upper Bound, Posse Foundation, and QuestBridge. Georgetown should further its admission outreach in local communities of color, especially those that already have CSJ educational programming.

-
Work with the Admissions Office to develop concrete initiatives and strategies to increase applications from BIPOC and low-income students from the DMV. Local communities must be empowered to influence priorities and offer oversight.

-
Ensure Georgetown’s philanthropic programs are equally beneficial for Georgetown stakeholders and the local communities they intersect with.
